The weather has been really soggy lately! We have been getting so much rain this month! The ducks have been very happy as they waddle around in and amongst the puddles. Yesterday afternoon, though, we received some snow so most everything is nice and white now! The ducks are not as fond of snow. :)
The rainy weather we have been having has given us lots opportunities to work on indoor projects. Thankfully there was a day or two earlier in the week that was dry and we were able to work outside in the garden and flower beds. I am glad I was able to get the Dahlia bulbs dug up.
I recently started reading in Revelation. One thing that really stood out to me about the church of Ephesus, is that they were being faithful to the LORD and His word, yet they had lost their first love -- their love for Christ. Wow, that was good to sit and think about.
"I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have lost your first love." ~Revelation 2:2-4It is easy to think that someone or a church who is being faithful to the Lord and has undiminished zeal for the truth would have a great love for Christ, but I guess that is not always the case. God wants our love for him to be from our whole being and the reason for our zeal.
" 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this:'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."~ Mark 12:30-31I think it could be easy to get focused on doing things for God and even be faithfully reading and standing for His word and yet not have the kind of fervent love for Him that we should be having. How is our relationship with the Lord?
Everything else will fall into place when our love for Him is truly as it should be.
Amy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! Yes, you are so right--"Lord, ignite the fire of my love for you and fan it into a hot fervent blazing fire of love within me. In Jesus' Name and for His glory. Amen."
